We are delighted to have successfully concluded an international training programme on Internal Control and Risk Management (ICRM) in Public Sector Finance, held in Kigali, Rwanda, from 10th–14th August 2026.

The programme brought together Finance Officers of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) from Nigeria, Ghana and The Gambia, creating a valuable platform for professional learning, experience sharing and cross-border collaboration.

The training focused on strengthening participants’ understanding and practical capacity in internal control, risk management, financial accountability, governance and effective risk-based decision-making within the public sector environment.

But the experience went beyond the training room.
Participants had the opportunity to explore Kigali, experiencing its remarkable environment, hospitality, culture and history. A guided city tour and visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial provided a particularly meaningful experience, offering an opportunity to reflect on Rwanda’s history, resilience and journey of reconciliation.

The combination of professional learning, cultural exposure and interaction among professionals from Nigeria, Ghana and The Gambia made the programme a truly enriching international experience.
